The No-Nonsense Guide to NGN and NGA ...
14th May 2009
We're delighted to be hosting a workshop later this month at IIR's Regulatory Cost Modelling and Accounting conference, in Berlin. The main part of the conference runs from 26th - 28th May. We will be running a workshop on 29th May called the No-Nonsense Guide to NGN and NGA. It's designed as a guide to NGN (Next Generation Network) and NGA (Next Generation Access) technology for people with a non-technical background. We wanted to call it NGN/NGA for Dummies, but we thought we might be infringing on a trademark! Anyway, the idea is to remove some of the mystery from NGN and NGA technology and allow people to ask as many stupid questions as they like - the stupid questions are always the hardest ones to answer, by the way. It's designed to be fun day, and, if we can get the technology to work, you might be able to have a go at building your own NGN. We also hope to bring along some friends who have expertise in designing and deploying NGNs and NGAs to give us the benefit of their experience too. We're also hosting a drinks reception after the first day of the conference on 26th May. There's no such thing as a free drink, of course, so you'll have to put up with us boring you about long run incremental costing, the role of session border controllers, etc, etc. Or alternatively, we can take bets on whether Manchester United or Barcelona will win the Champions League final the next day. Our Director of Regulatory Consulting, Peter Cartwright, will be speaking on Constructing Efficient Regulatory Cost Models for NGNs on Wednesday 27th May, and our CEO Graham Wilde will be chairing that day's session. Also, our good friends at SVP Advisors will be running a workshop on Monday 25th May on Addressing the Current Challenges in Regulatory Accounting. It should be an interesting week - some good discussion in a great city of culture, with a great football match in the middle. Hopefully we will see lots of old and new faces there. More details of the conference can be found at www.iir-conferences.com/regcost .
