Rail Communications Regulation and Management 2008

With passenger demand putting pressure on track systems almost every rail company around the world is building or planning improved trackside communication networks. Huge investment is being poured into these systems in a bid to increase safety, cut train operating costs and add new benefits to passengers and staff. Against this background, BWCS will host a brand new conference next month in London to bring together the main players involved in installing trackside networks to explain their recent successes and failures and examine the best ways to move forward.
On the 5th and 6th of November, rail operators and suppliers from as far afield as the US, Japan, Spain, Sweden and across Europe will converge on London to discuss at first hand the problems they have experienced as they strive to build this new generation of trackside communications networks.
According to Graham Wilde, CEO of BWCS, "The fast-paced development in this area is throwing up a whole series of new questions to be resolved. For example, how can the rail industry make the most of new broadband wireless technologies such as WiMAX, HSDPA and OFDM? Who should own and control radio spectrum and telecoms infrastructure at the trackside? And how can rail network operators maximise their investments in GSM-R?
BWCS has worked with all the major players in this new market to make Rail Communications Regulation and Management 2008 a success. Over two days, a combination of interactive workshops, panel sessions, presentations and networking sessions will explore the regulatory and technical issues arising from the deployment of this new generation of trackside communications networks around the world.
