BAI Chooses RADWIN to Help in Boston WiFi Overhaul
(31 Jul 2017, BWCS Staff)Train to ground wireless connection technology company RADWIN has been chosen by BAI Communications to assist in the roll out of improved on-train WiFi services in the Boston area. RADWIN said its FiberinMotion® solution will be installed as part of BAI’s project to offer all commuters on Massachusetts Bay Transport Authority (MBTA) rail lines high-capacity WiFi access.
BAI Communications, via its recently-purchased Boston subsidiary InMotion Wireless, has an exclusive 22-year license to design, build, finance and operate a multi-application high-speed network along the MBTA commuter system. The Boston-based rail system is 400 miles long and has annual ridership of 35 million passengers. It runs through 175 cities and towns in East Massachusetts and Rhode Island, making it one of the busiest commuter systems in the U.S.
BAI Communications has long been present in North America and has existing operations in New York City and Toronto, where it has designed, built and operates the communications networks in the respective city subways.

Rob Bystry, Vice President - Engineering, at BAI Communications US, chimed in “Boston commuters are spending on average 60 minutes commuting on an MBTA train, so it’s crucial that these commuters stay connected throughout their journey. Ubiquitous WiFi on-board trains is no longer considered an amenity, but as a necessity.”
