Whoosh Launches New Real-Time Journey-Info Dashboard

(12 Feb 2021, BWCS Staff)

UK software creator Whoosh says it has launched its Real-Time Journey Dashboard app, aimed at offering live passenger-to-train operator communications during their journey.

According to Whoosh, travellers will be able to scan a unique at-seat QR code which will enable them to access the dashboard and start using it at any time during their trip. Apparently, the dashboard can operate without on-train WiFi and will send the passenger relevant service, station and onward journey information.

Riders using the system will be able to request specific station assistance or report any problem during the journey, through the dashboard. In short, Whoosh says it will enable two-way communication between the operator and passenger.

In addition, the dashboard will enable train operators to integrate current or future services such as on-board entertainment, at seat-catering, news feeds or even delay repay.

Whoosh, whose website (https://www.whooshmedia.co.uk/ ) features the slogan “Are we there yet?”, describes itself as a “champion for improving the rail travel experience in the UK”.

The founder and CEO of Whoosh, Edmund Caldecott, said: “We’re incredibly excited to launch the Real-Time Journey Dashboard. The platform will really shake up the rail industry and set the bar for customer support technology. From our roots in developing award-winning, at-seat entertainment, we saw the desire for a real-time information sharing, two-way communication enabling and ultimately stress-reducing platform.

“We’ve all seen a resurgence of QR use during the pandemic, and once a somewhat side-lined technology has really come into its own. Along with the rich capabilities and real-time information provided, it’s the QR element of the Real-Time Journey Dashboard really makes it stand out by enabling bespoke live content access like no other platform.”

On-train WiFi services, trackside wireless networks, the growing market for passenger WiFi and on-board entertainment will be the main subjects of BWCS’ WiFi on Trains Conference on November 16th and 17th this year.
