Apple to Bear Mobile Fruit (Finally)

(06/09/2005, BWCS Staff)

The mobile world is expecting a major announcement by Apple Inc tomorrow regarding the future of its mobile music plans. In a poorly kept secret it appears that the California-based pc giant will finally reveal a new iTunes-compatible mobile handset, which it has been developing in conjunction with US vendor Motorola for at least twelve months.

According to industry rumours, the phone will come loaded with software which will allow the user to download and play songs from the mighty online store that Apple has put together. However, it is not yet certain that users will be able to download songs straight to their phones, or whether they will have to do so via their pcs first.

Verizon and Cingular are expected to be among the first mobile companies in the US to make these phones available with a slew of European operators, lead by T-Mobile International, lining up to offer them on this side of the Atlantic.

Apple is expect to also announce further advancements to its digital music offerings, including an iPod that supports video playback and a line of flash-based iPod Mini devices.
