Nokia to Regroup
(20/06/2007, BWCS Staff)
Finnish handset giant Nokia, ever keen to move with, if not ahead of, the times, has announced a major restructuring to better align itself with what it claims is the coming convergence of the mobile and internet world. From the start of next year, Nokia will operate as three divisions, these will be: Devices, Services and Software, and Markets. The Markets section of this trinity will take on the responsibility of managing the giant company's sales channels, supply chains and marketing activities. A new post of Chief Development Office is to be established who will bid to co-ordinate strategy and providing operational support for integration across all units. Nokia named Kai Oistamo, currently heading the Mobile Phones Business Group as new head of the Devices unit. Niklas Savander, current head of Nokia's Technology Platforms division will be installed as new boss of the Services & Software division. Meanwhile, the Markets unit will be placed under the direction of Anssi Vanjoki, who up to now has been in charge of the Multimedia Business Group. The new position of Chief Development Officer goes to Mary McDowell, currently in charge of the Enterprise Solutions Business Group.
