Huawei on the March

(16/07/2007, BWCS Staff)

Chinese telecoms vendor Huawei Technologies has reportedly signed a major network supply agreement with Polish mobile network PTK Centertel, owned by Telekomunikacja Polska. The deal covers the supply and maintenance of a 3G radio network in the southern and western areas of Poland, covering the Katowice and Poznan districts and is designed to reduce Centertel's network maintenance costs.

In addition the Chinese giant appears to be close to signing network outsourcing contracts worth between US$400 million and US$600 million with Indian operators. The vendor is said to be in advanced stages of negotiations with four cellular operators and is expected to announce a couple of deals soon.

According to reports, Huawei is talking to stated-owned telecom companies Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL), besides Vodafone-Essar. The company is also in talks with Bharti Airtel for a similar contract.
