BWCS Airport Hotspot Usage Survey
About this title: Since the early days of the public wireless LAN market, airports have been marked out as premium hotspot locations. With large numbers of laptop-carrying business travellers having to spend hours sitting in their cafés and departure lounges, airports should provide the perfect environment for public W-LAN services. But in reality, how much are these locations actually making from hotspot services and how fast is W-LAN usage growing?
BWCS has spent several months gathering hotspot usage and revenue data from airport hotspot operators and WISPs around the world. The resulting analysis is based on data relating to 20 airports in Europe, the US and Asia-Pacific, which represent a cross-section of small, medium and large air terminals as well as established and relatively new public hotspot operations.
The Airport Hotspot Usage Survey includes key metrics such as average number of sessions, average monthly revenues and service take-up and compares these by region. It also models the growth in hotspot usage at a middle-ranking airport during the first three years of public WiFi service.
The Airport Hotspot Survey is essential reading for anyone involved in offering public WiFi services. For further information, please check our website or contact Ross.Parsons@bwcs.com.
